Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

[Gríma is thrown out of the hall, and rolls down the stairs.]

Gríma: "Argh! I've only ever served you my lord."

Théoden: "Your leechcraft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast!"

Gríma: "Send me not from your side!"

[Théoden raises his sword to kill Gríma, but is stopped by Aragorn.]

Aragorn: "No my lord! No my lord. Let him go."

Aragorn: "Enough blood has been spilt on his account."

[Aragorn holds out his hand to Gríma.]

[Gríma spits on it and runs off through the crowd.]

Gríma: "Get out of my way!"

Aragorn: "Hail, Théoden, King!"

[Gríma rides out of Edoras.]

[The crowd kneels before the King.]

Théoden: "Where is Théodred? Where is my son?"

[Rohirrim are gathered for Théodred's funeral.]

[Théodred's body is carried toward the tomb on a bier made of shields and spears.]

[Èowyn sings while the men pass the body to the women, who place it into the tomb.]

Èowyn:

"Bealocwealm hafað fréone frecan forth onsended
giedd sculon singan gléomenn sorgiende"

(An evil death has set forth the noble warrior
A song shall sing sorrowing minstrels)

"on Meduselde þæt he ma no wære,
Þæt he ma nowere is, þurh niedig rest."

(in Meduseld that he is no more,
That he is nowhere anymore, for his necessary rest.)

"And mægen deorost.
Bealo…"

(And that he is the dearest kinsman.
Killing took him…)

[Théoden stands, with Gandalf, at his son's shut tomb.]

Théoden: "Simbelmynë, ever has it grown on the tombs of my forebears. Now it shall cover the grave of my son."

Théoden: "Alas, that these evil days should be mine. The young perish and the old linger. That I should live to see the last days of my house."

Gandalf: "Théodred's death was not of your making."

Théoden: "No parent should have to bury their child."

[Théoden starts to cry and covers his face.]

Gandalf: "He was strong in life. His spirit will find its way to the halls of your fathers."

Gandalf: "Westu hál. Ferðu, Théodred, Ferðu." (Be-thou well. Go-thou, Théodred, go-thou.)

[Gandalf turns and sees Èothain and Freda riding a horse.]

[Èothain falls off the horse.]

[Inside the Golden Hall the two children are eating. Èowyn is by their side.]

Èowyn: "They had no warning. They were unarmed. Now the Wildmen are moving through westfold, burning as they go, every rick, cot and tree."

Freda: "Where's mama?"

Èowyn: "Hush."

Gandalf: "This is but a taste of the terror that Saruman will unleash. All the more potent for he is driven mad by the fear of Sauron."

Gandalf: "Ride out and meet him head on. Draw him away from your women and children. You must fight."

Aragorn: "You have two thousand good men riding north as we speak. Èomer is loyal to you. His men will return and fight for their king."

Théoden: "They will be three hundred leagues from here by now! Èomer cannot help us."

Théoden: "I know what is that you want of me. But I would not bring further death to my people. I will not risk open war."

Aragorn: "Open war is upon you, whether would risk it or not."

[Théoden walks to Aragorn.]

Théoden: "When last I looked, Théoden, not Aragorn, was king of Rohan."

Gimli: "Burp!"

Gandalf: "Then what is the king's decision?"
