Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
[The Ents hover, making low voices. Treebeard approaches the hobbits.]
Pippin: "Merry."
Treebeard: "We have just agreed."
[He seems to fall asleep.]
Merry: "Yes?"
Treebeard: "I have told your names to the Entmoot and we have agreed: you are not orcs."
Pippin: "Well that's good news."
Merry: "And what about Saruman? Have you come to a decision about him."
Treebeard: "Now don't be hasty, Master Meriadoc."
Merry: "Hasty?! Our friends are out there. They need our help! They cannot fight this war on their own."
Treebeard: "War, yes. It affects us all. But you must understand, young hobbit. It takes a long time to say anything in old Entish, and we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say."
[The fighting at Helm's Deep continues. Gimli hacks away with his axe.]
Gimli: "Seventeen. Eighteen. Nineteen. Twenty. Twenty-one. Twenty-two."
[A group of Uruks, covered in shields, approach the main gate.]
Aragorn: "Northway! Nauthannen!"
[The elves shoot, and many of the Uruks fall down.]
Théoden: "Is this it? Is this all you can conjure, Saruman?"
[Below, the troops carry Saruman's explosives to the drain. An Uruk soldier carrying a bright torch runs towards the hole.]
Aragorn: "Togo hon dad, Legolas! Dago hon!" (Legolas, stop him! Kill him!)
[Legolas hits the Uruk with two arrows, but fails to kill it, letting the Uruk-hai light the explosives.]
[A large part of the wall explodes.]
[Théoden looks upon in shock.]
[Huge boulders fly through the air. Aragorn lies on the ground, unconscious. Saruman's army starts to crowd through the hole in the wall. At the gates, the Uruks try to break through.]
Théoden: "Brace the gates!"
[The men run to the gate and try to hold it, as the Uruks pound from the other side.]
Théoden: "Hold them! Stand fast!"
[Men (including one that looks a great deal like the belching oaf from Bree) throw rocks and spears down on the orcs below.]
[Aragorn regains consciousness as the Uruks run towards him.]
[Gimli sees this and jumps down from the wall, landing in a pool. He hacks the attacking Uruks.]
Aragorn: "Gimli! Prepare to charge!"
[Gimli continues fighting, but is hit and falls in to the pool.]
Aragorn: "Hado i philinn!" (Hurl the arrows!)
Aragorn: "Herio!" (Charge!)
[They attack, Aragorn leading them.]
[Legolas takes a shield from the ground and rides down the stairs on it, shooting arrows at the Uruks.]
[The Uruks continue flowing in from the hole in the wall, but they are met by men and elves and a dwarf.]
[Treebeard again approaches the hobbits.]
Treebeard: "The Ents cannot hold back this war. We must weather such things as we have always done."
Merry: "How can that be your decision?!"
Treebeard: "This is not our war."
Merry: "But your part of this world! Aren't you?"
[The Ents glance at each other, looking self-conscious.]
Merry: "You must help. Please. You must do something."
Treebeard: "You are young and brave, master Merry. But your part in this tale is over. Go back to your home."
[Merry puts his coat back on.]
Pippin: "Maybe Treebeard's right. We don't belong here, Merry. It's too big for us. What can we do in the end?"
Pippin: "We've got the Shire. Maybe we should go home."
Merry: "The fires of Isengard will spread. And the woods of Tuckburough and Buckland will burn. And all that was once green and good in this world will be gone."
[Merry grabs Pippin's shoulder.]
Merry: "There won't be a Shire, Pippin."
